This event is aimed at all manufacturers – small and large – from food and drink businesses to specialist and general engineering firms. The focus of the forum will be to look at the development of the manufacturing workforce and to share good practice and learn from each other’s experience.
Three experts from local manufacturing organisations will be joining us to tell us about their experiences of recruitment and retention in this growing industry:
Stephen Mariadas (Chief Executive Officer, South West Institute of Technology), will discuss the current and future plans for the whole South West region of the IoT, from meeting learner needs to delivering higher level technical skills to meet employer’s needs.
Henry Laborero (Learning and Development Manager, Oscar Mayer), will talk about retaining and upskilling workforces through the utilisation of apprenticeships as well as networking opportunities within the South West HR Forum. Henry will discuss how they have effectively used a Learning Management System (LMS) to focus on their existing workforce.
Andy Rimell (General Manager, Oscar Mayer) ), will then discuss the skills and workforce challenges facing the manufacturing sector.
