SUMMARY:Understanding CBAM - Webinar by International Trade Matters
DESCRIPTION:On 1st October 2023\, the European Union introduced the Carbon
 Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM).\nThe aim of CBAM is to establish an in
 ternal ‘cost’ to the EU’s embedded carbon in the production of certa
 in energy intensive products. This\, in-turn enables a suitable levy to be
  placed against goods imported from outside the EU\, thereby ensuring an e
 qual cost comparison on products and to reduce what the EU calls ‘Carbon
  Leakage’.\n\n Phase 1 currently requires reporting for six sectors\; C
 ement\, Aluminium\, Fertiliser\, Iron &amp\; Steel\, Hydrogen and Electric
 ity\n Phase 2 will be introduced in 2026 and will include tariff charges\
 n The UK government has also advised that it will be introducing its own
 version of CBAM in 2027\n\nRachel Stockton\, International Trade Complianc
 e Specialist at International Trade Matters\, will share her expertise on
 the subject and discuss how it may affect you now and in the future.\n\nTh
 ursday 3rd October\, 3pm-4pm ONLINE\n\nThis webinar is FREE to attend for
 NDMA member businesses.\n\n&nbsp\;
