A factory tour and discussion about the benefits of apprenticeships past and present
In celebration of National Apprenticeship Week 2026, SR Furniture hosted apprentices from TCi. The visitors were treated to a tour of the advanced manufacturing facility, following sheet material through each process. They witnessed skilled operatives working in sequence to achieve precision components which are then assembled, ready to ship to clients.

SR Furniture has collaborated with TCi on several occasions, to manufacture and install bespoke, fitted furniture on sites all over the UK – including on this Key Worker Accommodation example
Both companies have a rich history of providing apprenticeships, and the discussion turned to the ways that apprenticeships can be an excellent way to begin your career, or develop into a role.
Will, Former apprentice and now machine operator explained; “I started as an apprentice and grew into a machine operator by learning the trade, embracing new technology and putting in the hard work. Manufacturing rewards those who are willing to learn”
Business Support Apprentice, Anya, said; “it was really interesting to meet former apprentices who have developed into highly skilled roles within the manufacturing process, contributing to these fantastic products”
Sales Apprentice, Kyle, remarked; “It was great to see how furniture we specify for clients is made before it is delivered and installed all over the country.”
From apprentice to company boss
Steve Payne, Managing Director at SR Furniture commented on his own career story, as a great example of apprenticeships (and some good, old-fashioned hard work) really can lead to great things;
“From apprentice cabinet maker to Managing Director, my journey has shown that hard work always pays off. Manufacturing has changed over the years, but commitment and pride in what you do never go out of fashion”
