Have your say in the Enginuity SME Snapshot Survey

Your voice matters – and this is a key moment to make it heard, as we are in the midst of significant policy reform that is impacting SME’s.

Enginuity’s SME Snapshot Survey is now open for its third edition, and they’re inviting business leaders and decision-makers in small and medium-sized engineering and manufacturing firms to share what’s happening on the ground.

This short survey captures company-level insight that helps put SME experience at the heart of policy, supports reforms that are practical and affordable for small firms, and strengthens the evidence base we can take to decision-makers.

The most recent SME Snapshot Report (published March 2026) drew responses from 250 SMEs – representing more than 10,000 employees and £1.91bn in combined revenue – and gave Enginuity the evidence needed to secure a meeting with the Minister for Skills, Jacqui Smith and increase our engagement across government.

SMEs are the backbone of the UK’s engineering and manufacturing base, yet their voices are often under-represented in policy and skills debates. Enginuity’s Policy Centre for Supply Chain and SMEs brings industry and policymakers together – and uses SME Snapshot evidence to turn real-world experience into clear, actionable messages for decision-makers.

Reaching a third wave is a milestone. It strengthens trend data so we can track what is (and isn’t) changing for SMEs over time. This year, Enginuity has also engaged policymakers to shape the questions, so the findings can feed directly into active skills policy and reform work.

With significant skills policy reform underway and ongoing pressures on small firms, it’s crucial that the SME voice is heard clearly and consistently.
