We are excited to share Singapore Civil Defence Force’s (SCDF) photo as they show off their new Fire Fighting Protective Suits (FFPS) featuring Heathcoat Pbi Core fabric. The uniquely engineered outershell fabric was showcased at the fire industries biggest international exhibition Interschutz, held in Hannover, Germany last year.
Heathcoat Pbi Core is woven at the company’s production site in Tiverton. An extensively tested and proven yarn blend combines an optimal percentage of the exceptional heat and flame protective properties of PBI fibre with a supporting Kevlar® fibre to provide the high strength and durability required for firefighter turnout gear. Uniquely, Heathcoat has engineered this highly effective blend to protect it against the degrading effects of UV exposure, and then woven it in an appealing matrix-style design.
Other features of the new suits highlighted by SCDF include:
- Improved fit that provides better range of motion due to the lightweight and stretchable outershell
- Highly breathable fabric layers that reduce heat stress
- Improved flame protection to enhance safety
- Increased abrasion resistance to enhance durability
SCDF says, “beyond the new look, the new suits also enhance functional purposes such as better protection from extreme heat and environmental conditions, and increased visibility in low light conditions.”
