St Eval: A Story of Digital and Manufacturing Transformation
Back in 2017, St Eval was a small, artisan-led business with a team of 25, a turnover of £2.2 million, and a deeply hands-on, manual approach to production. We were proud of our craft heritage but recognised that to thrive in a changing world, we needed to adapt, without losing the heart of who we are.
Over the past eight years, we’ve embarked on a digital and manufacturing transformation that has reshaped every part of our business. We’ve embraced lean principles and built a culture of continuous improvement, where teams are empowered to question, experiment, and innovate.
Today, we’re a team of 70, with a turnover of £7.5 million.
We’ve integrated Industry 4.0 technologies across our operations, including:
- Sensors and IoT devices to monitor production in real-time
- Bespoke, in-house shop floor applications that connect people and processes
- A fully integrated SAP ERP system linked to our e-commerce platforms and warehouse management system, including handheld scanners to streamline stock control
This transformation has helped us scale while staying true to our values, maintaining craftsmanship, reducing waste, improving efficiency, and creating a more resilient, agile business.
Above all, it’s been a cultural shift, one that’s unlocked new ways of working, stronger cross-team collaboration, and a deep commitment to learning and growth.
We’re excited to welcome the NDMA members to St Eval in June to share our journey in person.
