Igniting the spirit of enterprise

Young Enterprise is building a connected world of young people, business volunteers and educators, to empower the next generation with the confidence, ability and ambition to succeed in a rapidly changing global economy.

Here in Devon, Young Enterprise needs the support of local and national business. Volunteers from all walks of life are an essential part of our success.

We are working with local secondary schools and colleges to offer a Young Enterprise Company Programme to pupils aged 15-19 years old, giving them the opportunity to run a real business and start something inspirational.

Over the course of an academic year, students can:

  • Raise finance by selling shares
  • Open and use their own bank account
  • Carry out market research
  • Work together to create their business plan
  • Develop and market a product or service
  • Trade with the general public
  • Manager company finance
  • Participate in Young Enterprise Trade Fairs (local, regional, national and international)

In the Company Programme, students develop enterprise and financial capability as well as business and economic understanding.

I am looking to recruit volunteers particularly in the Barnstaple and Ilfracombe area, to support students and their companies as Business Advisers for one hour per week over the course of the academic year. All volunteers will be fully trained and supported by Young Enterprise.
