Following news of the successful touchdown of Nasa’s Mars rover, Perseverence, it has emerged that the parachute fabric used to ensure a soft landing was, in fact, developed and manufactured in Devon!
Heathcoat fabrics, based in Tiverton is a specialist fabric engineering company producing many hi-tech textile products such as parachutes for drones and paragliders.
It just goes to show that Devon’s manufacturing industry isn’t just world-class, it’s truly interplanetary! Congratulations to all involved.
