Plastics manufacturer shares best-practice developments with delegates

Members were treated to an eye-opening tour of the facility producing injection-moulded products that appear in household and specialist products used all over the world.

The 2026 NDMA Annual General Meeting was hosted by Tex Plastics in Barnstaple. After the formal meeting to agree the association’s 2025 accounts, report on achievements, and reinstate committee and goals for the coming year, attendees embarked on a best-practice visit around the Sticklepath factory.

During the tour, the visitors were able to see products at every stage in the injection-moulding journey, from raw material preparation, through production, finishing and packing whilst learning about the controls and real-time monitoring that have been implemented to deliver competitive efficiencies. The effective use of technology, blended with more traditional quality control techniques is enabling Tex Plastics to operate in a competitive market, producing high-end plastic products ranging from pipe fittings to hygiene units, opto-electronic lenses, and high-specification equipment housings.

One delegate exclaimed; “it’s always astonishing to find out about these products that are being developed and manufactured right here in North Devon to be shipped all over the world. We see these items every day in our houses, businesses, and hospitals without realising we might live next door to the person who made it!”

Chairman Tim Puttick thanked Tex Plastic for generously hosting the meeting and tour, noting the obvious collaborations between local manufacturers where Tex Plastics is embedded as both a customer and supplier to several current and former NDMA members.
